Final Outcome
Observation: Refinement #1 carries a slight heavier atmosphere as the fog is denser whereas refinement #2 has lighter fog and an increased in contrast. The chain in the foreground also becomes sharper.
Findings: Small refinements can guide the viewer's eye more effectively without needing large compositional changes.

INSTRUCTIONS
Project 2: Invisible Set Extension
Recap
Students will apply knowledge from Tasks 1 and 2 to Task 3, demonstrating technical skill in analyzing, compositing, and creating set extensions for raw footage. They will study the footage to understand its environment and extension needs, then produce believable, seamless results. The process includes sketching, digitization, and generation using appropriate software, followed by creating a promotional poster for their work.

Further Refinements and Amends
During the refinement process, I felt that the composition was slightly odd so I added more pillars and adjusted the perspective using distort and perspective depending on the situation. I also tried to reduce the opacity of the mist slightly further so that it didn't overpower the overall matte painting. Other than that, adjustments onto the lighting and shadows were also made during the process.

REFLECTION
Experience: While working through the refinement stages of the matte painting, I focused on gradually improving atmosphere, clarity, and mood. Each stage involved experimenting with elements like fog density, lighting, and contrast to see how these changes affected the overall composition. I found that small, careful adjustments could have a big impact on depth and realism. The process felt like sculpting and not just adding details, but also knowing what to soften or remove.
